Beware, rough surfaces. You will be asked to wear welly boots and rubber gloves before entering this ex-local authorities-flat-turned-science-lab, near Elephant and Castle. It’s hard to find, but once you get there, the boarded up windows and gloomy toilets give you an insight of what’s to happen to this little courtyard building: destruction.

One artist, commissioned by Artangel, decided to give this building a goodbye present, a little gem incrusted in its entrails. What is really impressive here, is the process the artist went through to get to this result. The flat was transformed into a giant boiling pot, sealed, for days, before being drained, and finally stampeded by hundreds of visitors. What you are not told, is that the holes in the grounds are the imprints of the sandbags used to retain the pumps, and the water was poured in to absorb the dust which would otherwise fill the room. Interesting process, but I would have hoped for a bigger place, a sort of magic castle to discover room after room...
